The PlayStation 3 version of the game, developed by 4J Studios was announced to be released on September 15, 2012. However, due to unforeseen circumstances, 4J Studios was unable to meet the estimated release date and Minecraft: PlayStation 3 Edition was released three months later than expected on October 22, 2012. The Xbox 360 version of the game developed by 4J Studios was announced to be released on November 18, 2012. However, due to unforeseen circumstances 4J Studios was unable to meet the estimated release date and Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition followed it's counterpart a few days later on November 21st.
